Sally is a Partner in our Commercial Property and Agriculture Teams, with specialist experience in environmental risk & business sustainability. She has 25+ years of commercial property experience working with a variety of clients across multiple sectors and for owners and occupiers whether individuals, corporates or other organisations in health and education.
Sally has a wealth of experience from her many years as a commercial property solicitor advising on a wide range of matters including but not limited to:
- Strategic land acquisitions & disposals;
- Promotion agreements;
- Options and overages for land owners and developers;
- Landlord and tenant asset management;
- Commercial refinance; and
- Corporate support.
A particular focus since 2009 has been attention to environmental risk not just in the area of contaminated land, but also to support business sustainability and compliance. These areas are becoming ever more relevant and, in some cases, imperative for businesses especially having regard to the increasing need for environmental performance data. Sally is as at home working for larger corporates as she is with individuals and SMEs and enjoys helping them to achieve their environmental aims.
Matters Sally can assist clients with include:
- Business sustainability;
- Environmental permitting compliance in waste and water discharges;
- Brown field development; and
- Environmental nuisance.
In addition to advice on the above, Sally can also provide bespoke training sessions to businesses on commercial property and environmental sustainability topics to suit your business needs.
In 2021, Sally contributed to 6th Edition of Sweet & Maxwell’s ‘Sale of Shares and Business – Law, Practice and Agreements’, writing the chapter on environmental issues.
Sally trained at international firm, Eversheds and qualified as a solicitor in 2003, having first been tempted by the taste of legal practice in the late 1980s as a girl Friday in a Suffolk law firm and reading John Mortimer. She attended Nottingham Law School where she obtained her post graduate in legal practice with distinction.
Sally’s many interests include playing flute in a folk band, coastal and hill walks, travel and spending time cooking and eating with her family and friends.
Sally Challinor and the rest of the team at Leathes Priors have been carrying out some very challenging legal work on a variety of projects for us. She has managed to guide us through and overcome the inevitable difficulties and frustrations. She has done this calmly and professionally. It has been a pleasure to work with her and the rest of the team.
I’m writing to convey my deep appreciation for the exceptional work Sally Challinor provided recently. I cannot praise her professionalism highly enough. I’ve used commercial solicitors before but the moment I first consulted with Sally it was clear she operates head and shoulders above them all. She has a sixth sense about what her clients need - offering crystal clear communication, expert knowledge and unparalleled attention to detail. Mine was a particularly complex case which required constant negotiating and revision right up to the last minute. But Sally handled it with ease - nimbly coming up with solid solutions every time we hit a snag. Clearly Sally cares about her clients and I can confidently say such a personal service is worth its weight in gold.
Just wanted to say another HUGE thank you for all your amazing help and amazing hard work in helping us with the licence. I can’t thank you all enough. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful.
I have been using Leathes Prior for many years and their professionalism and the quality of their service has never disappointed. They have assisted me with numerous commercial and personal matters, and at every stage, I was always aware of the situation and the next course of action. Most recently, Sally, Rachel and the team completed a lease renewal on a commercial property, and despite some challenges from the outside world, this was delivered on time and within budget. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
