Leathes Prior celebrates a series of internal success stories
As the 140th anniversary celebrations draw to a close for Leathes Prior, the firm reflects on one of the key contributors to the longstanding success over the years. What ultimately sets Leathes Prior apart from competitors is the quality of the services provided and the people that provide them.
For that reason, here at Leathes Prior we focus on developing internal talent by investing in our people and ensuring that they have the tools required to build a successful career at the firm. We understand the importance of developing our staff and encouraging internal progression by way of exposure to new experiences and support in gaining qualifications. Just some of our success stories are as follows:
James Hunt joined the firm as a Post Room Assistant in September 2009 before being promoted to Legal Secretary in the Residential Conveyancing Team in June 2013. Seven years on, James remains in the Residential Conveyancing Team and is working towards becoming a Chartered Licensed Conveyancer.
Claire Watson joined the firm as a Legal Secretary in our Residential Conveyancing Team in March 2013 before choosing to study to become a lawyer herself with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) in May 2014. She is now on the path to qualify as a Legal Executive within the next two years.
Catherine Halton-Farrow joined the firm as a Legal Secretary in the Residential Conveyancing Team in September 2013, having recently graduated with a law degree. She completed the CILEx Graduate Fast Track Diploma in January 2016 and is now a Graduate Legal Executive, due to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive next year.
Emily Sanderson joined the firm as a Legal Secretary in the Residential Conveyancing Team in November 2013 before going on to study a BTEC in Residential Conveyancing with the Institute of Paralegals. Emily successfully completed the course in February 2015 and has since taken on the role of Paralegal in the team.
Talia Baxter joined the firm as a Post Room Assistant in February 2014. By October 2014, Talia had achieved her NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration and is currently on her way to achieving her Level 3. Her hard work was quickly recognised and Talia was promoted into the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team, accepting the role of Legal Secretary in September 2015.
Lily Beel joined the firm as a Paralegal within the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team in October 2015 and has very recently accepted the offer of a Training Contract at the firm, commencing in September next year.
Rose Thirkettle joined the firm’s Reception Team in November 2015 and accepted the offer of a role as Legal Secretary in our Wills, Trusts & Powers of Attorney Team 10 months later.
Coco Yung joined the firm’s Employment Team as a Legal Secretary in February 2016 and began working towards her CILEx qualification in June 2016.
Providing staff with the opportunity to study alongside their existing role is a significant investment for both the firm and the individuals involved. We work to ensure a supportive learning environment by encouraging participation in our internal mentoring scheme, offering study leave and providing funding opportunities for qualifications. By ensuring the right support is in place, we have found it to be a mutually beneficial process whereby talented individuals are given opportunities to realise their full potential and ultimately contribute to the success of the firm.
